Imagine a painter whose fine motor skills are compromised by Repetitive Strain Injury, a musician whose life and career have been affected by mental illness, a potter who can’t operate her wheel after breast cancer surgery, an actor whose vision progressively deteriorates.
When our artistry is disrupted, we are forced to adapt the way we create. We become artists in transition.
——————————————————————————————————————————
Artists in Transition is a nonprofit organization focused on professional and non-professional artists of all art forms, visual and performing, who are facing physical and/or mental health issues, and their allies. As we exchange information about resources and support for the challenges we encounter, we create a caring community of artists with shared experiences and interests.
I am very excited to present our new site. Please take a look around and tell us what you think.
We have created an online artist gallery: FLUX™. Here, performing and visual artists can present their art and story, in any format. We also feature the most comprehensive nationwide calendar of arts/health events found online. And you will find everything you need to know about our upcoming second annual conference in Fall 2011.
We invite you to help us build and grow the site and our community: Send us information about your events, upload your art in FLUX™, and register for the conference!
You can also visit us on Facebook.
Click here to contact us, or to contact Joel directly. We hope to hear from you soon!
